Chef Jason Howard is a culinary virtuoso with a diverse background that has shaped his remarkable journey in the world of food. Hailing from Barbados with early years spent in both St. Vincent, he started his journey as a kitchen steward and quickly displayed an innate talent for culinary arts, which led to his cross-training and ignited his hunger for culinary knowledge. At The Sasso Kitchen in Barbados he steadily climbed the ranks to become a Commis Chef by the age of 21. Despite lacking a mentor, he relied on his own determination and constantly sought ways to improve his craft, defying the advice to “not overthink things” and pushing himself to new heights. His unwavering spirit led him to make a bold move to the UK, where he worked as a chef in London, specializing in modern British cuisine. His perseverance paid off when he secured a position at the prestigious three-star restaurant, The Connaught, under the renowned chef Helene Darroze, where he demonstrated his skills as a junior sous chef from 2014 to 2016. Building on his success, Jason continued to refine his culinary skills and expand his repertoire. He explored the concept of modern fine-dining Caribbean cuisine, establishing pop-up restaurants and reinvesting his earnings into further culinary endeavors. Through social media and active participation in food festivals and events, Jason garnered recognition for his innovative culinary creations and captured the attention of his home country, Barbados.
