Florida Citrus Prosecco Crush

servings 4

Ingredients

1 ounce Florida orange liqueur
2 Florida oranges or your favorite Florida citrus
½ cup Florida strawberries, trimmed and halved (plus more for garnish)
1 bottle prosecco, chilled

Preparation

Place the chilled prosecco bottle in ice to keep it as cold as possible. Use a peeler to create citrus ribbons from both oranges. Trim into similar sizes, shape with a toothpick and set aside. With a paring knife, remove the remaining peel and pith from the citrus, then slice into rounds. Add citrus rounds and strawberries to a muddling jar or cocktail shaker and muddle thoroughly to extract maximum nectar. Let the mixture rest for 15 minutes to release additional liquid and flavor, then muddle once more. Strain through a fine mesh into a small carafe. Add 1 ounce of orange liqueur, mix gently and keep chilled until ready to serve. To assemble, pour 1 tablespoon of nectar into a champagne or coupe glass and top with chilled prosecco. Garnish with citrus ribbons and strawberries.
